deep dive?

KATH fell in love with music at an early age, singing along to every Disney and classic rock song her parents put on and performing for whoever would listen. She discovered the power of music in third grade when she tried out for a local church choir. On her first day of practice, the director placed her in the middle of the soprano section in the 50 member girls’ choir. They burst out into magical melodies and harmonies that surrounded her and brought KATH to tears.  KATH continued to perform in the choir and in school plays through high school, but when applying for college KATH thought best to let her passion for music take a back seat to a more practical path.

It didn’t take long after arriving at college for KATH to realize how wrong she was to leave music behind. Living in a forced triple on campus, she didn’t have a lot of space, but KATH knew she needed an instrument to get music back in her life, so she purchased a ukulele, learned four quick chords and immediately started playing and writing songs. The original music poured out…all 4 chords and one strum pattern, but she was on her way writing 10 songs in her first 2 days and was immediately back to her old self.

After graduating, KATH performed at open mics and accepted a job with a media agency in New York City buying radio ads for brands. The open mics expanded into acoustic cover performances, and the job allowed her to purchase instruments and pay a producer to start making high quality recordings for release.

KATH began to perform original material at the Bitter End. Her boss at the time, who had been in the industry for 40 years and is now a very close friend and mentor for KATH, would pack the room with media people. Quickly, the media job became a driving force for KATH’s music career.

The positive feedback and reception from performing live drove KATH to writing more music, collaborating with other artists, and performing all over NYC and Long Island. When the Pandemic hit, KATH took a beat to think through her future as an artist and eventually decided on a rebrand. She met her new producer, Joey Auch, and they started working together remotely. The first single KATH recorded with Joey was “Can I Show You Crazy Yet” which was a huge step forward for KATH.  She continued to record with Joey and eventually released several new tunes along with compelling content across new social outlets and a new website launch, all as KATH.
